Noise pollution has a significant impact on our overall quality of life. This book aims to address different aspects of noise pollution and provide guidelines, noise policies, and laws regarding environmental noise and its challenges. The book draws attention to these policies and laws, which are often neglected and not implemented. One of the main issues today, especially for those living in urban areas, is traffic noise. The book discusses how such noise can be monitored and mitigated. Additionally, industrial noise poses a significant health risk for people working in noisy environments. The book emphasizes the need for special precautionary measures to preserve their health. The book also addresses infrasound noise exposure (≤ 20 Hz) and its negative impact on residential areas near wind power plants. Each chapter presents a specific type of noise pollution and proposes possible solutions and innovative approaches to dealing with the noise. Noise pollution management is a challenging task, and solutions must be creative since it is difficult to implement them once the problem already exists. This book aims to raise awareness about noise pollution, while presenting information and knowledge about current laws and guidelines. It offers innovative solutions tonoise problems and specific case scenarios of noise pollution.

The experience of a good indoor environment can result in positive perceptual outcomes, which is related to the occupant’s well-being. Conversely, noise, uncomfortable temperatures and humidity, dim light, poor air quality, and pungent smells can compromise occupants’ life quality, negatively affect their place experience, or even reduce personal health. In order to ensure positive indoor environments for occupants, a perceptual quality assessment has been introduced and extensively studied in recent years. Influenced by indoor environmental quality (IEQ), it is necessary and beneficial to explore how humans perceive and what effects indoor environments. It is necessary for designers and researchers to address these issues associated with indoor environmental quality. Therefore, this Special Issue aims to gather articles that discuss indoor environmental quality and occupant comfort. The articles in this Special Issue encompass different research categories, ranging from conceptual analyses and reviews to research papers. These studies have investigated the characterization and perception of both individual indoor environments and complex environmental interactions, along with their management and design implications. The focuses of these investigations include both theoretical aspects (such as the relationships between environmental quality and psychological or physiological reactions) and methodological aspects (such as protocols and procedures of gathering objective and subjective data).

Although air pollution is usually linked with human activities, natural processes may also lead to major concentrations of hazardous substances in the low atmosphere. Pollutant levels may be reduced when emissions can be controlled. However, the impact of meteorological variables on the concentrations measured may be noticeable, and these variables cannot be controlled. This book is devoted to the influence of meteorological processes on the pollutant concentrations recorded in the low atmosphere. Measurements, cycles, statistical procedures, as well as specific variables such as the synoptic pattern, temperature inversion, or the calculation of back-trajectories, are considered in the studies included in this book to highlight the relationship between air pollution and meteorological variables. In addition, the state of the art of this subject following meteorological scales, from micro to macro-scale, is presented. Consequently, this book focuses on applied science and seeks to further current knowledge of what contribution meteorological processes make to the concentrations measured in order to achieve greater control over air pollution.
